ARE YOU ALLOWED TO MAKE music fan pages on MYSPACE?

Please help me with this one. All of my mates do it and some of them have over 3,000 fans and upload the songs of their favourite bands. As long as you state it is a fan base, is it allowed?

That depends on what you mean.

You are NOT allowed to create a band page, as a fan.

However, you MAY create a standard page, and a group, for fans.

You are not allowed to use the band music player on anything other than an official band page.

Do not confuse illegal with against the terms of service.

However, while creating the page, may not be illegal (although it is against the terms of service) putting the band's music on the page MAY be ILLEGAL.

However, there are alternative music players, in cyberspace, which allow multiple songs (and since I don't use these I have no idea about the legality or the music they play).

Bands are often searching for their name, and having any pages which are not officially theirs, removed.

yeah you could do that. I mean I once thought about making one just so I could put whatever music on my page. I Mean with certain popular bands they will have like 50 different pages most if not all which are fan based.

No. Because it clearly warns you that you need to own a copy right to the song, it may let you do it but the profile will quickly be erased.
